LICENSING SCHOOL
If you are a beginner and have never driven a race car before, we can
teach you very easily. When you come to Jim Harrington's Drag Racing
School to learn to drive a dragster or full bodied car, you will have
championship caliber instructors and the best equipment.
Each student begins at a different level. The level at which you start at
depends on your ability and past racing experience. Our limited size
class assures that you will receive the personal attention and seat time
that you will need. Once the orientation is complete and you are familiar
with the instrument, controls and safety equipment, the fun kicks off on
the race track!
We teach you in stages how to drive a race car. The stages are burnouts,
60 foot runs, 330 foot runs, 1/8 mile, 1000 feet and finally the quarter mile
full pass. You must be comfortable with each of the stages prior to
progressing to the next level. This is very important for your safety as
well as enjoyment. Upon completion of our course, you will be able to
drive a race car well and with confidence.
DRAGSTER EXPERIENCE
Thrill seekers this is for you! This one day school enables you to
experience some of the beginning stages of the licensing school.
As past students have said, "it's a fun filled exciting day"

ADVANCE RACERS AND MONEY WINNERS
At Jim Harrington's Drag Racing School, we instruct you as individual even
more so at this level of racing. Classes for the advanced racers and money
winners are tailored to his or hers individual needs. Once you and Jim have
talked extensively about your racing experiences, the plan to address your
specific needs develops. Jim works with you individually, from burnout to
the finish line and everything in between. As you know, you must have good
technique in every area of the track to win consistently. With the fierce level
of competition in N.H.R.A. and I.H.R.A. Drag Racing, everyone is looking
for an edge. Jim Harrington's Drag Racing School is that edge!
BRING YOUR OWN CAR
If you have your own car you can bring it. Using your own car does have its
advantages, not to mention the cost savings. Learning the correct technique
and routine that you can practice in your own car repeatedly is the ideal
scenario. We will help you if you have any problems with the car's set up
too. Having Jim observe you driving your own car down the track will help
enormously in the understanding what is right and what is wrong with your
technique

WEATHER STATIONS AND CONSISTENCY
Understanding the weather, it's effect on your car and the engine is a very
important part of today's racing. In all the types of sportsmen racing you
have to know how fast or slow your car is going to run in different weather.
There are many different types of weather gathering instruments on the
market. Some are very accurate and others are not. The wind speed and
direction can also playa big part in the calculations as well. This is an
area that to many racers don't give serious thought to.
All of the programs on the market today have what is called a " fudge factor"
and understanding this will go a long way in helping you with your dial in.
At Jim Harrington's Drag Racing School you can learn the proper way to
read these instruments, use computers, understand computer programs,
wind speed, wind direction and how it translates to your dial in.

THROTTLE STOPS
The throttle stop is the most misunderstood piece of equipment in the dial in.
There are not many racers that know how to keep the ratio the same every run.
Once the ratio has changed, the computer will give you numbers that no longer
apply. Jim will teach you to understand, set and be consistent with throttle
stop ratio.
